December 27th, 2013– US Military Endurance Sports is proud to announce our 2014 roster of sponsored athletes for the Elite Cycling and Triathlon Programs. Six road cyclists and one mountain biker will be supported at events around the country and new for 2014, three triathletes will join our program as elite sponsored athletes. This coming year we will boast the strongest roster of athletes the program has ever assembled and the teams goals go well beyond performance alone. Mentorship, fitness, health advocacy, and wounded warrior support are all part of this unique program and our Elite Athletes will be superb advocates in their respective sports.

“We had our strongest season in the history of the team in 2013, and we’ll be looking to build on that success in 2014,” said USMES General Manager, Lt Col (Ret) Bill Jacobus.

Our road cycling team roster has an outstanding mix of new and returning riders, with both veteran and young talent excelling in all disciplines of the sport. Four of the elite cyclists have raced in Europe and all have national-level experience. “With that kind of veteran talent, mixed with our young up and comers, we anticipate some break-out performances!” said USMES Elite Cycling Team director and former elite team rider, Coast Guard Petty Officer Jacob Brewer.

Team Veteran, Air Force Captain Dan Cassidy will be looking for great results after missing most of the 2013 due to a deployment to Afghanistan. Army Major Kurt Page will be the Team’s diesel and there’s high hopes for our climbing specialists Air Force Lieutenant John ShalekBriski and Oregon Air National Guard Technical Sergeant Dwayne Farr.

New additions to the road team include Navy Lieutenant Shawn Dobbs, the 2013 Louisiana/Mississippi State Time Trial Champ and masters 35+ Florida State Road race and Time Trial Champion, and Air Force Lieutenant Nate Robinson, a strong new talent from the Ohio valley. He comes from an elite triathlon background and has quickly risen through the ranks of cycling and is looking for a breakthrough year in 2014.

The Elite MTB Team includes Professional Mountain Biker, Air Force Captain Spring Clegg. Spring is coming off of a year-long deployment to Afghanistan and is aiming for another podium at the USA Cycling 24 hr MTB Championships.
