5 to 5/50 Mentorship Program

Posted 22 Nov 2016 in News Facebooktwittermail

USMES is happy to announce our newest program – 5 to 5/50.

5 to 5/50 is a 5 month, mentorship based program designed to use cycling and running as means to encouraging healthier lifestyles.  It includes expert designed fitness programming, nutrition education, and high-touch mentorship.  We are especially excited about 5 to 5/50 because it not only positively impacts our members, but it broadens the impact of USMES by being offered to Veteran employee groups and Veteran employers.  Our goal is to replace any reservations about pursing a healthier lifestyle with the truth that everyone has a starting point and there are people who deeply desire to support and encourage along the way.

Who?  5 to 5/50 is for individuals seeking to pursue a healthier lifestyle and who are wanting guidance.  The program is open to all USMES members and is free of charge, yes FREE!

What?  5 to 5/50 guides an individual, over the course of 5 months, to a place of being able to either successfully run 5 kilometers or cycle 50 miles.  Each participant selects a personal mentor, is counseled through progressive fitness programming, and is presented with fundamental nutrition education.

When?  5 to 5/50 will have very specific enrollment periods and start dates.  Keep your eyes on your inbox and social media for announcements.

Where?  5 to 5/50 is offered via a virtual platform.  As such, you participate in the program from the comfort of your home.

Why?  We know that making lifestyle changes and entering into the world of endurance sports can be intimidating.  We want to assist in making these changes as easy as possible.

Questions?  Please contact the 5 to 5/50 Program Manager, Bethany Kelsey, at bethany.kelsey@usmes.org or Eric Haselby, the 5 to 5/50 Lead Mentor, at eric@usmes.org.
