We chatted with 20 athletes to learn some of the weirdest, funniest, or most inspirational messages that friends, family members, and fellow athletes have shared with them while racing an IRONMAN event.

A little more about Ryan:
Elite triathlete Ryan Hamm competes in the 18-24 age group while serving in the Coast Guard in North Carolina. His stellar 2017 results include an age group win at IMNC 70.3, earning him a coveted slot for the Kona IRONMAN World Championships in October 2017. In Kona at the World Championships, Ryan finished 20th in the 18-24 age group, 4th American in 10:38:36. We expect great things from Ryan in the future!
