Brett grew up playing ice hockey and played on the club team at the Air Force Academy. Brett graduated from the Air Force Academy in 2010 and attended Undergraduate Pilot Training in Columbus, MS. In 2011, while he was in pilot training he bought a road bike and raced a few sprint triathlons in the area. Once assigned to C-17s in Charleston, SC in 2012 he started to train for longer races mostly focusing on Olympic and Half Ironman distance. Brett recently moved to Beale AFB, CA to fly surveillance drones. He has raced at the Armed Forces Championship 3 times and has raced in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships twice. Brett was first in the Active Duty division at Superfrog 70.3 in 2015 and qualified for the Ironman World Championships in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii in October 2016. He plans to focus on long course triathlon and to keep consistently improving towards someday competing at the elite level. He is excited to be a part of a great community of athletes and veterans and to represent USMES in a positive light both on and off the racecourse.
