Justine Emge // Triathlon
Motto: “May we run with endurance the race God has set before us.”
Justine Emge is proud to represent the 2018 USMES Elite Team as a triathlete, and to represent USMES partner Boeing as an AH64 Apache pilot. “As a National Guardsmen, I typify a majority of the Force, the reserve component,” Justine says. “My participation in elite athletics sets the standard for other Reservists to follow, showing that they can be a citizen, service member, and athlete.” Justine began her competitive career as a swimmer who dabbled in triathlon, making USA Swimming’s elite nationals, the US Open, and competing in international swim meets. Justine began racing triathlon more seriously during college, inspired by an internship with a triathlon-specific exercise physiologist. In the years to follow, Justine won over 25 triathlons, sometimes “chicking” the field (coming in first overall). Justine is a four-time member of the All Army triathlon team, a two time CISM triathlon team member, an IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship qualifier, and a Boston Marathon qualifier. She started racing criteriums in 2017 and is ranked 1st in the nation as a Cat 4 criterium cyclist. Her goal for 2018 is to qualify for her pro card in triathlon and continue to gain experience in cycling.
