When Rhandie Thompson was 9 years old he moved from Spanish Town, Jamaica to Orlando, Florida to live with his father. At the age of 16 he discovered his love for running after being challenged by his high school PE coach to race against some of the guys in his class for fun. Shortly after, he was asked to join the track team and during his first year he discovered a natural prowess running the 100 and 200 meter dash events. After graduating high school in 2003 he became a member of the USA Track and Field team and competed in a few local events before he decided to join the Navy in 2004.

After 9 years of active duty service as an Aviation Machinist Mate, becoming a subject matter expert on the MH-60R, MQ-8B and the P3 Orion airplane, Rhandie decided to join the Reserve unit in Mayport, Florida where he currently spends his time training and mentoring sailors in engine repair, transmission replacement, blade repair and troubleshooting equipment.

Rhandie started racing in 2013 with a local team in Jacksonville Florida, months after joining he was then deployed to Syria for six months. While deployed he continued to train and later joined the USMES team in 2014. Since joining USMES he successfully made the leap from being classified as a CAT 5 to a CAT2 in exactly one year. He is the Regional Coordinator supporting region 4 for US Military Endurance Sports and pursuing his Bachelors of Science in Professional Aeronautics/Management at Embry Riddle. Rhandie has a true passion for the sport of cycling, his hard work and dedication shows in his training and development over the past two years.
