Benefits of being a member are divided into three categories: Deals and Discounts, Community/Teaming/Communication, and Education/Coaching/Mentorship.

Deals & Discounts

Each year we negotiate with sponsors to secure great discounts for our members and you are eligible to participate in those deals the moment you become a member.  With more than 30 partner companies (and growing) you are sure to find the equipment, products, or services you need.

Some examples include great member discounts on Gu Nutrition products, Rudy Project, Schwalbe Tires, Blue Seventy swim gear, Felt BicyclesShimano components, and so much more. Purchase a single helmet from Rudy Project and you’ll save more than the cost of our yearly membership!

Another great perk is the member’s only competition gear store, where we sell our Cycling, Triathlon, Running and other competition gear at discounted rates.  We are proud to use Pearl Izumi for all of our cycling and triathlon apparel needs. We also sell team apparel including hats, t-shirts, polos and much more.

We have a few important team programs that are opened based on funding availability.  Programs include:

  • The Affiliate Coaching Program (ACP)
The ACP is designed to help our athletes connect with the best coaches in the US.  These coaches have agreed to offer our team special rates and to ensure that our athletes are not required to sign contracts longer than month-to-month.  We also have a coach matching program where our club leadership will help you find the best coach for your needs.
  • The Event Reimbursement Program (ERP)
The Event Reimbursement Program (ERP) is meant to defray the costs of event registration for athletes on the team.  It is important to note that this program has strict eligibility requirements and is not meant to cover the costs for every member for every event.  If you have questions, contact membership@usmes.org.
  • Special Event Reimbursement Request Program
The Special Event ERP is for athletes selected to go to world class or national level events and are requesting financial assistance.

Community/Teaming/Communication

Our Regional Coordinator (RC) program provides athletes a smaller team and a local racing feel with the support larger nation-wide programs provide.  Each region organizes local focus events and family activities as well.  The goal of our focus events is to give athletes an opportunity to race or participate with teammates and friends. Depending on the event, some financial support may be provided.

In addition to our RC support, the specific club team managers provide further support, mentorship, and team event organization. You can compare your race schedule to others as well as find races and teammates to share travel costs.  As well, we have a very active members-only Facebook page and an online forum where we discuss events, results, tactics, training, equipment, and much more.

USMES hosts several team camps and skill clinics including cycling, triathlon, and running camps.  Our largest camp is usually in March in Tucson, AZ and this year we plan to host additional camps in San Diego, Washington DC, Colorado Springs, and a fall camp in the Northwest and Southeast.

Education/Coaching/Mentorship

In addition to the Affiliate Coaching Program (ACP), we also offer our members a growing education library of information about competing, nutrition, tactics, and much more. We mentor by connecting our top amateur and elite athletes with beginner and intermediates.  The social media and resource pages are excellent for expert advice. Your RC is also a great resource for connecting mentors.  We also do after action and hot wash discussions following events on the Facebook page for members willing to share their race experience and ask for tactical assistance.
